Overview:

We’re supporting our client, a privately held company with a national footprint, seeking a hands-on, experienced Distribution Center Manager to lead its operation in the Forest Park, Georgia area. This is a high-impact leadership role within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of warehouse operations, product storage, driving efficiency, ensuring safety, and developing a high-performing team. This role will require the manager to spend a preponderance of his/her time on the floor working with extended team members/associates.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead a one shift operation, Monday through Friday (7:30-4pm) with plans to expand to a 2nd/hybrid shift in the next 12-18 months to support growth.
• Manage a team of 6+ hourly associates, coaching and developing staff to meet daily performance metrics and long-term goals.
• Review orders to determine shipping priorities, work assignments and MHE equipment required to meet daily shipping schedules and customer service level attainment (SLA’s).
• Oversee outgoing shipping activities to ensure other fulfillment accuracy, completeness, & condition/preparation and securement of loads.
• Inspect material handling equipment for defects & notifies applicable maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair where necessary.
• Responsible for the accuracy of all work and tasks performed within the building.
• Responsible for adherence & execution of standardized procedures.
• Maintains good housekeeping (GMP’s) and has a continuous improvement mindset around lean and Six Sigma methodologies and/or past exposure.
• Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counts and enforce standard operating procedures.
• Drive continuous improvement using Lean or Six Sigma principles (prior exposure preferred).

What We’re Looking For:

• 6-7+ years of progressive experience in warehouse or distribution operations, including leadership of hourly teams.
• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems, TMS applications and ERP software.
• Valid forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification prior to or shortly after hire.
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Kaizen is strongly preferred. Certification (e.g., Six Sigma Green or Black Belt) is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience with best-in-class cycle counting procedures and inventory accuracy SOP’s (i.e. absolute vs net).
• Prior Union and collective bargaining experience is a plus but not required for role.
• Prior experience with processing and managing small parcel shipments is desirable but not necessary.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office, including excel and third-party payroll applications is a plus.
