Job Description

Come and join our team at this 605-room convention center hotel in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City. Our luxury hotel is located next to the Paycom Center(OKC Thunder), the Oklahoma Convention Center and across the street from the 70-acre Scissortail Park.

The Assistant Director of Human Resources will be responsible for assisting with and supervising all aspects of Human Resources, to include Associate Relations, Benefits, Training, Safety & Worker’s Compensation, Recruitment as well as liability prevention and legal compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train and provide support to hourly and management Human Resources Associates.
  • Provide counsel to the Director of Human Resources in all areas of Omni policy, culture and leadership.
  • Maintain legal compliance at all times. Ensure that team is up-to-date with evolving legislation and compliance.
  • Maintain all Associate Service Center Standard Operating Procedures including compliance with all Internal Audit requirements.
  • Monitor the Associate Engagement Survey and assist the Hotel in creating substantial action plans that move the Hotel forward.
  • Ensure the Hotel complies with all training required by law (ex: Alcohol Training, Food Handler, Sexual Harassment), etc.
  • Ensure all Omni Training and Development Programs are implemented successfully, recommend new training programs as needed.
  • Assist the Director of Human Resources in developing and maintaining an active succession plan for all departments of the hotel.
  • Ensure on-boarding and terminations are implemented according to Omni standards.
  • Conduct exit interviews for all terminating associates and ensure final clearance and pay check distribution.
  • Ensure Omni Benefits programs are implemented according to standards.
  • Implement the performance appraisal and salary increase programs according to Omni standards.
  • Establish aggressive and effective recruiting and employment function to include job fairs in and around the community, colleges, universities, etc. Utilize monthly forecasting tool to ensure all departmental labor needs are met.
  • Assist with the implementation of the Hotel’s wage and salary adjustment programs ensuring accurate market data to drive compensation programs.
  • Provide guidance and advice to Hotel leadership, at all levels, on employee relations issues, ensure the leadership team upholds Omni culture and legal compliance.
  • Conduct investigations and assist the Director of Human Resources and Senior Leadership in making employment status decisions.
  • Responsible for clear and accurate documentation of all associate issues, on a timely basis following counseling and disciplinary procedures. Ensure legal liability of the company is protected at all times.
  • Assist the Director of Human Resources in the creation of responses to employment litigation from Federal and State offices.
  • Plan and execute innovative, fun and engaging Associate events on a monthly basis.
  • Consistently works to define Omni Culture and Six Pillar philosophy on the property. Reflect and adapt to varying situations based on adherence to Omni Culture and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Implement Omni’s recognition programs, ensure the Omni Service Champion culture is celebrated across the Hotel.
  • Participate in yearly budgeting process, forecasting expenditures for associate relations with Director of Human Resources.
  • Fulfill all the responsibilities of the Director of Human Resources in their absence, communicating effectively with property leadership as necessary.
  • Fulfill reasonable requests of management as directed by Director of Human Resources and/or General Manager.

Qualifications

  • Must have at least 4 years of experience in Human Resources. Large Hotel/Resort experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a Human Resources leadership role.
  • SPHR and/or PHR Certification preferred.
  • Must have significant employee relations experience at a decision-making level, including experience conducting investigations, managing coaching and counseling and handling concerns.
  • Must have a well-rounded Human Resources background with solid experience in employee relations, benefits, training, safety, liability avoidance and compliance.
  • Hotel Operations management experience preferred.
  • Must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills, ability to coach, counsel, advise, mentor, and motivate associates and managers at all levels.
  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.
  • Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 40 pounds without assistance. Stand, walk or sit for an extended period or for an entire work shift. Requires repetitive motion, including utilizing telephone/computer for an extended period or for an entire shift.
  • Desktop computer (Microsoft Office, Kronos, Birchstreet, Ultipro, iCims), printer, telephone, copier, fax machine, scanner.
