Job Description

Salary: $109,200 - 207,800 per year Requirements:

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in telecommunications or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in telecommunications or a related area.
  • Advanced knowledge of professional telecommunications and VoIP network systems/infrastructure to complete diverse tasks and resolve issues using established guidelines, creativity, and independent judgment.
  • Proficiency in voice and data field practices and techniques, with the ability to determine appropriate actions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to independently resolve issues using defined parameters and technical expertise.
  • In-depth understanding of Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco VoIP networking, protocols, and software critical to maintaining interconnected networks.
  • Ability to analyze complex telecommunications hardware and software systems for maintaining real-time resources affecting UCOP telecommunications users.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications management systems/tools.
  • Capability to effectively gather, organize, and analyze data for a variety of functional assignments.
  • Effective communication skills for conveying technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel at various organizational levels.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large or complex technical projects, including the deployment of new telecommunications hardware, software, or services.
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining documentation, including end-user instructions, service descriptions, departmental workflows, and architectural/configuration records.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and sustain enterprise-grade telecommunications systems, such as VOIP, SIP, and cloud-based UCaaS like Zoom Phone, along with legacy voice platforms like Cisco UC. Produce system architecture documentation, call flow diagrams, and configuration standards. Lead or assist in large-scale telecom infrastructure initiatives, migrations, and upgrades while collaborating with cross-functional teams on infrastructure, disaster recovery, business continuity, and security compliance. Provide senior-level troubleshooting and support for voice and telephony systems, ensuring call center SLAs are met. Monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and optimize efficiency and reliability, while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
  • Assess telecom operations and services for efficiency, recommending and implementing tools or processes to enhance service delivery. Develop and manage process documents, maintain departmental Service-Now forms, provide backup for other departmental staff, track operational performance, and create requirements for new or enhanced services. Lead product and service rollout and deployment efforts.
  • Offer technical and operational support for UCOP's integrated contact center ACD platform; assist end-users with training on platform functionalities, interaction workflows, reporting, and workforce management.
  • Manage procurement activities, including establishing purchase orders, submitting and overseeing financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in orders and payments, resolving discrepancies, defining RFx requirements, and evaluating vendor responses. Maintain vendor contact information and administer contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions. Conduct periodic business reviews with key vendors.
  • Research telecom and mobile device trends, optimize rate plans, and serve as co-administrator of the MDM platform while monitoring compliance with mobile device policies.
