Job Title: Optical System Test and Prototyping Engineer (Optical Engineer)

Location: Onsite – Redmond, WA

Duration: 4-6 Months

We are seeking an Optical Engineer to support advanced imaging system prototyping and testing efforts. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in optical metrology, test automation, and cross-functional collaboration. You will be contributing to the development of cutting-edge optical systems, supporting both test execution and software tooling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute optical imaging tests such as Modulation Transfer Function (MTF), relative illumination, and other performance metrics.
• Collect, process, and analyze optical test data to support system evaluation and optimization.
• Develop Python-based control software for motion systems and user interfaces.
• Integrate third-party and open-source software packages into the test automation framework.
• Collaborate closely with hardware, software, and manufacturing teams as well as external vendors.
• Assist in creating engineering prototypes and demo setups to showcase system capabilities.

Required Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with optical imaging system testing (e.g., MTF, illumination uniformity).
• Proficient in Python programming, especially for hardware control, GUI development, and automation.
• Experience in VBG (Volume Bragg Grating) waveguide fabrication and testing.
• Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams and drive results.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education:

Master’s or Ph.D. in Optical Sciences, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
