Insurance Defense Attorney (Hybrid – Houston/Dallas, TX)

Salary Range: $140,000–$150,000 + 10% Annual Bonus

Location: Houston or Dallas, TX | Hybrid (2–3 days in office)

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking a skilled and motivated Insurance Defense Attorney to join our growing Staff Counsel team in Texas. This role will be based in either Houston or Dallas, with a flexible hybrid schedule (2–3 days/week in office). What You’ll Do:

• Manage a caseload of moderate complexity insurance defense matters from inception to resolution (including settlement, dismissal, or trial).
• Represent clients at mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and court appearances.
• Provide strategic legal guidance to internal claims teams and clients.
• Conduct legal research, draft motions, and attend pre-trial and trial proceedings as needed.
• Work closely with other attorneys, paralegals, and claims professionals.
• Mentor and support the development of junior attorneys.

What You’ll Bring:

• Active license to practice law in Texas
• 3+ years of insurance defense or civil litigation experience; jury trial experience strongly preferred.
• Strong command of litigation procedures and legal research tools (Lexis, Westlaw).
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within a legal team.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally as needed.
