Job Summary:
The EHS Safety Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with workplace safety, health, and environmental regulations while fostering a culture of safety. This role includes policy development, training, compliance monitoring, and risk assessment for our Company. The specialist works to prevent accidents, reduce risk, and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other applicable standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and other regulatory standards.
Monitor workplace activities to ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
Collaborate with managers and employees to identify safety policy needs and solicit feedback for development.
Communicate new policies and monitor implementation and compliance.
Ensure compliance with third-party Quality Control and regulatory agencies, including Federal, State, and local standards.
Develop and manage accident-prevention and loss-control systems and programs.
Maintain an ergonomic program to reduce workers’ compensation claims and enhance operational efficiency.
Oversee inventory and maintenance of safety supplies and systems, such as PPE, first aid kits, eyewash stations, and fire extinguishers.
Coordinate activities of safety committees to ensure successful implementation of initiatives.
Perform risk assessments of the work environment from safety, health, and compliance perspectives.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify and mitigate hazards.
Assist with investigations of incidents, accidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
Develop, implement, and modify Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
Conduct and oversee safety training programs for employees and contractors.
Promote safety awareness and compliance through motivational coaching and communication.
Provide recommendations to the leadership team to prevent future incidents and improve safety outcomes.
Analyze safety data to identify trends, minimize liability, and reduce costs.
Maintain records and prepare reports on safety program performance and compliance status.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, and environmental standards.
Proficient in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and risk assessment.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask, work autonomously, and manage time effectively.
Education and Experience (Preferred):
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in EHS compliance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Certifications (Preferred):
OSHA 30-Hour Certification
Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Certification
