As a Maintenance Team Member at El Encanto, A Belmond Hotel, you ensure your destination's facilities' smooth operations, functionality, and grandeur. In this role, you’re a proud custodian of the infrastructure and equipment that enables our team to deliver a luxury experience and provide optimal service. We are seeking an Engineering Supervisor to assist the Director of Engineering in directing all aspects of engineering operations for interior/exterior facilities, including electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, heating, cooling, structural, ground care, and parking areas. Help manage other engineering work necessary to maintain the property in an optimum and efficient condition to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Participate in daily line-ups to ensure that all staff members know and are energized by the hotel's philosophy; participate in weekly/monthly departmental meetings.

• Attend necessary meetings and functions to show support and provide input towards the hotel's success.

• Maintain knowledge of the hotel's features/services, hours of operation, daily house count, expected arrivals/departures, etc., to ensure work orders are scheduled around critical times.

• Review daily logbooks before the shift starts and discuss any opportunities with the Director of Engineering before delegating work assignments.

• Maintain the guest rooms and public areas in a first-class manner commensurate with 5-star, 5-Diamond Standards utilizing a comprehensive preventative maintenance program coordinated in conjunction with the Director of Housekeeping and the Front Office Manager.

• Manage key control system and recycling program.

• Inspect and maintain all building systems and life safety to ensure minimum downtime, expense, and discomfort for our guests.

• Recruit, interview, supervise, and train departmental subordinates as needed.

• Set standards for the department in image, appearance, and grooming; property represents the company and the profession to outside organization; return business calls the same day.

• Maintain a productive weekly work schedule and manage payroll to achieve the forecast.

• Assist with managing the purchasing, inventory, and price value relationship of all parts and tools.

• Coordinate carpentry, painting, and decorating projects.

• Help oversee maintenance of the plumbing system, grounds and landscaping, swimming pool water features, the central Pantry, HVAC system, kitchen facilities, refrigeration system, laundry equipment, electrical systems, and sewage systems through assignment and utilization of the new property's Preventive maintenance program. Assist the Director in creating and modifying the program as needed.

• Ensure employees maintain safe conditions and procedures in work areas and other associated areas in compliance with OSHA; ensure each employee successfully completes the Training Certification Process and review all departmental safety information.

• Practice emergency procedures in compliance with hotel/company standards; react and assist in hotel emergency situations as needed.

• Responsibly use utilities and resources to control wastage.

• Communicate relevant information to the department, your line manager, and across departments, as appropriate.

• Comply with safe working practices and health and safety policies and ensure accidents/defects are reported immediately.

• Attend learning and development courses and complete eLearning modules, as required.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of Spanish language a plus.
