Customer Support Specialist (Technical) - Schaumburg, IL

Salary: $62,000 - $72,000 / Year + Full Benefits, PTO, 401(k)

Join a leading manufacturer of automated material handling equipment that powers warehouses, distribution centers, and manufacturing plants worldwide. Our products include conveyors, sorters, and robotic arms designed to improve efficiency and safety on the job.

We’re seeking a Customer Support Specialist to help customers and service teams quickly identify and resolve mechanical issues to keep operations moving smoothly.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers and field service teams requiring mechanical troubleshooting support for conveyors, sorters, and robotic arms
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues remotely through phone, email, and virtual tools, providing clear step-by-step guidance to minimize downtime
  • Perform detailed analysis of mechanical failures and recurring problems to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to communicate field issues and assist in the development of design improvements and product updates
  • Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, troubleshooting manuals, and training materials to support both customers and internal service technicians
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior support staff and field technicians on mechanical troubleshooting best practices and product knowledge
  • Manage and prioritize multiple troubleshooting cases, ensuring timely resolution and excellent customer communication throughout the process
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records of all support activities, customer interactions, and repair actions in the company’s service management system
  • Conduct onsite visits (up to 15%) to provide hands-on troubleshooting, assist field technicians with complex repairs, and perform preventive maintenance checks

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of mechanical troubleshooting experience, preferably within manufacturing
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Clear communication skills to assist customers remotely and work with internal teams
  • Ability to manage multiple cases effectively and maintain thorough documentation
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for onsite support (up to 15%)
