POSITION: Admissions Analyst

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Admissions

 

STATUS: Full-time, Non-Exempt

RANGE: $35.71 - $41.21

 

Founded in 1901, Brooklyn Law School is a distinguished, independent law school located in Downtown Brooklyn, New York. The Law School is searching for an Admissions Analyst to join our team. The Admissions Analyst is a critical member of the Brooklyn Law School Admissions team, responsible for ensuring that all applicant files are complete, accurate, and ready for review by the admissions committee. As the first point of contact for application processing, this position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the admissions pipeline and ensuring timely decision-making.

Working closely with the Admissions Data Specialist, this role also provides cross-training and backup support for core data and systems functions, contributing to the overall operational efficiency of the office. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working with admissions technology and databases.

Responsibilities include:

1. Application Processing and File Completion

  • Monitor application submissions daily via LSAC (Law School Admission Council) systems and internal CRM platforms.
  • Review each incoming application for completeness, ensuring receipt and proper formatting of transcripts, test scores, letters of recommendation, personal statements, and additional required materials.
  • Communicate with applicants promptly regarding missing or incomplete documents; respond to questions about application status or requirements.
  • Certify completed files and mark them as "ready for review" in the system, in accordance with established admissions timelines and policies.

2. Applicant Records Management

  • Enter, update, and maintain applicant information in the database with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Track document receipt, process fee waivers, update status codes, and maintain system notes related to applicant communications and changes.
  • Identify and escalate potential errors or discrepancies in application materials or data.

3. Systems Support and Collaboration

  • Serve as secondary support to the Admissions Data Specialist in managing and maintaining LSAC Unite, CRM platforms, and internal tracking systems.
  • Assist with data audits, exports, and the creation of standard operational reports during peak periods.
  • Collaborate on systems upgrades, workflow enhancements, and troubleshooting as needed.

4. Communication and Team Support

  • Coordinate with other admissions staff to ensure seamless application review and timely decision processing.
  • Provide front-line customer service to prospective applicants and recommend improvements to applicant-facing communications and FAQs.
  • Support event registration and materials preparation for open houses, admitted student programs, and virtual webinars as needed.

5. Compliance and Confidentiality

  • Adhere to FERPA and other institutional and regulatory guidelines regarding the handling of student records.
  • Uphold high standards of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality in all work.

Required:

  • Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an administrative or records management role, preferably in higher education or law school admissions.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy, especially in data entry and records processing.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Familiarity with admissions and student information software systems (e.g., LSAC Unite, Slate, Colleague, or other CRMs) preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential information.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience working in law school or graduate admissions.
  • Knowledge of legal education application processes and LSAC systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office suite applications.
  • Driver’s License

Remote capabilities:

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule, requiring a minimum in-office presence of four (4) days per week during the academic year when classes are in session and during exam periods. During the summer and academic breaks, when classes are not in session and exams are not being administered, a minimum of three (3) days per week of in-office presence is required.

Physical demands;

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Periods standing outdoors in the heat or cold.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Travel:

  • Occasional travel may be required.
